Rosacea is an inherited skin condition which starts out as redness or a flush that becomes more apparent when you exercise, eat spicy food or chocolates, drink alcohol, or get too much sun. Sometimes even change of seasons, stress and hormonal changes like pregnancy or menopause can affect Rosacea and make it worse. If left untreated, it can progress to dry patches, flakiness, sores, or bumpy and uneven skin texture. To address the redness and sensitivity, use products that are all oil free (no lanolin or mineral oil), fragrance free, Paba free, and no alpha hydroxy in your cleansers, toners, moisturizers and foundations.

You can calm down the redness with a foundation in warm tones (gold undertones). No cool tones. Mineral makeup is especially good for skin that is sensitive and affected by Rosacea because it is calming with no preservatives, no additives, no fragrance, no oil. It only contains zinc oxide and titanium dioxide which are natural sunscreens and mica. Other foundations good for Rosacea in mature skin are hydrating, creamy foundation with herbal and natural ingredients that provide good coverage. If the Rosacea is very serious, sometimes using a green color corrector to camouflage and mask the redness before applying the foundation helps.
